Sapphire Buffalo turf is one of the most popular lawn varieties across South East Queensland, particularly in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This premium soft-leaf buffalo is well suited to Australian conditions

It's our most shade-tolerant Buffalo turf variety available, making it the ideal choice for areas with limited sunlight. With an impressive 70% shade tolerance, it requires only 2-3 hours of sunlight per day, outperforming other Buffalo varieties that can only handle up to 50% shade.

Product FAQ

1. What is Sapphire Buffalo turf?

Sapphire Buffalo is a soft-leaf buffalo turf variety known for its fine texture, rich green colour, and high shade tolerance, making it ideal for homes, parks, and commercial landscapes. It's also our favourite, as it grows quickly and fills in the yard perfectly.

What are the common problems with Sapphire Buffalo

Sapphire Buffalo problems show up as thinning in shade, pale colour, or patchy growth after heat or heavy use. These usually respond well to adjusting mowing height, watering, and feeding. We've also found that removing leaf litter from the top of the turf helps greatly (use a mower catcher or blower). Does get a bit thatchy after a few years, which can be de-thatched or cut back if you prefer. Though we prefer a nice thick carpet of Buffalo.

Is Sapphire Buffalo good for the Gold Coast?

Sapphire Buffalo is a tough yet gorgeous buffalo grass and is suitable for south east Queensland climates. It spreads/grows quickly and creates a thick carpet like turf.
